Caliph Drew?

I have all the Turkish titles confused -- what is higher, a caliph or a sultan or a pasha or an emir or an efendi?

At any rate, we felt like royalty reclining on couches, sipping tea and munching crepes spread with honey and nuts under umbrellas as this sidewalk cafe near Topkapi Palace in Instanbul last weekend.
