Writer Adam M. Smith had a lovely line in a recent article in the New Republic about "the Bosnian capital's Instanbul-meets Innsbruck skyline."That perfectly captures the chalet like cottages, mosques and minarets and cemeteries sprawling over these mountains that are carpeted with fir trees and bewigged with snow. In walks into the hills that have become a Saturday habit for me, Miranda, an interpreter at the center; and Dona, her mother, I'm getting to love the landscape if not the sweat and toil it takes to get high enough for the view.

Here's a peek at the peaks.
