Rainy days in Hvar

Wet Hvar

Hvar is the sunniest place in Croatia, maybe in Europe, according to some guidebooks. It is so sunny that hotels until recently gave the rare tourists who encounted rain while in town a discount on room rates. It is so sunny that the Lonely Planet writers made this calculation: Hvar gets 2,724 hours of sun a year and a New York Times writer wrote authoritatively that it rains only 12 days a year in Hvar.

You know where this is going.

Three of those days this year fell during our four-day vacation.
