Mozart slept here

A feminine version of Mozart sells tickets to a Mozart concert in a city square.

The State Opera House features busts of notable composers with painted scenes from their operas. But other composers get one scene -- Mozart's head sits amidst scenes from three operas.

Only our US adoration for George Washington comes close to the hero worship of composer Amadeus Mozart here. His image sells candy and liquor. His statues are everywhere -- including living images. His music, of course, courses through the cafes, hotel lobbies and concert halls. Any connection with him is touted -- for example, the room in Schonnbrun Palace where he played. Other cities, including his birthplace Saltzburg play up their attachment to Mozart, but nothing like this.

It would be nice if we so honored and adored a creative genius instead of just politicians.
