Sretan Osim Mart!

I was in the US last March and so missed this delightful holiday that I first encountered in Africa -- the celebration of International Women's Day on March 8.

It's a kind of combined Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and Secretary's Day. The city has been vivid with flowers and sparkling things on sales for this day since I got back from vacation. Everywhere I went today people were walking around with bouquets of flowers. It was like being part of a giant wedding.

In CIN, Mirsad brought all the women long-stemmed daisies; the interpreters and male reporters treated the women to a cherry cake and juice at break which we ate to the tune of Drew singing: "Happy Chick Day to you, Happy Chick Day to you. Happy Chick Day all you chiiiicks, etc." His mocking was accepted because he also bent to pressure and splurged on orchid bouquets shown above for all the women staffers.

it was such a weirdly festive day.Zeljka got pearl earrings from her husband, Miranda bought her mother candy and Renata, visiting a prison to talk to a killer-cop, received his best wishes for a Happy March 8th before he refused to comment further.
