We booked one night into agro-tourism cottage on a little ranch in Montichiello that made me want to quit touring and play house. These cottages are available throughout Tuscany and you book them, then meet up with the owner in her car who drives over dirt roads and down winding lanes until you seem to be in the middle of nowhere. The cottage is filled with homey touches, potpourri on the bed, magazines near the fireplace and then the owner brings a carafe of wine.
