The highlight of the year was the parade through West Albany Village that began the Feast of the Immaculate Conception every July. We marched in communion dresses carrying gladiolas. I'm the fat kid in the fifth row.
That's my grandmother, Anna Stellato, in the polka dots. She lived two doors down from the IBS hall and worked there every Friday night making pizza. She was the daughter, wife, sister, and mother of members, but could not, of course, belong to the IBS herself.
