8 hours in a row

Several of us at the center are engrossed in a horrendous proof-reading task going back over all the projects done since the center began as we prepare for a revamping of the web site (www.cin.ba) and a reprint of our work.

I hate proof-reading. It's such dull and close work and the satisfaction of doing it well are so pitifiul: * Not a single adverb ending in LY has been hyphenated in this story!
*This story was filled with quote marks pointing in the wrong direction before I proofed it!
*I saved this reporter's ass because he had cannot written as two words before I got hold of this story.

Ugh. So Mirza and I were mutually bitching about the tedium of proofing for eight solid hours when I noted that I wouldn't even want to do something I love doing for that long. This got us into a discussion of what activities you might actually aspire to spend 8 hours in one day doing.

I came up with reading, watching television and sleeping. Maybe driving if the scenery were good. Not eating. Not sex, god no, not sunbathing which would be cancerous, not swimming, biking, hiking, baking pies, shopping, playing with kids, gardening. These are all fine activities but not overany extended length of time.

Can you think of any other candidates for this list?
