Eqyptians loose in Bosnia?

The biggest story out of Bosnia at the moment is the discovery about a half hour out of Sarajevo of pyramids built by Eqyptians.

Yeah, right.

Semir Osmanagic, a 45-year-old Bosnian, says he was so struck by the pyramidal shape of Visocica Hill that he explored and he found a gigantic man-made structure. He says three pyramids may be linked by tunnels in the area.

Osmanagic also claims to have discovered ancient structures in Latin America.

But he does have permission from government to dig, which many archeologists here are incredulous and angry about. They suggest he may be doing damage with his bogus dig. Visoko was the home of the old Bosnian kings and there is no question of its archeological importance. Volunteers are turning out to help Osmanagic dig up the hill and thousands of people are coming to watch. I've seen the hill but not gone to the town. I need to. I hear souvenir shops are crammed with pyramid trinkets.

But a pyramid?

Osmanagic claims to have uncovered giant stone slabs. Scientists from Sarajevo University scoff that these are natural stone formations in the area.

If he digs out a mummy, I'll blog again.
