One of our reporters recently went white and nearly passed out. She complained of numbness in her arms and we called for emergency assistance and made her drink cherry juice. She obviously was experiencing a sudden drop in blood pressure.
At the hospital doctors took blood for tests and sent her home. She had to go back in the afternoon to get the results so we sent one of the other reporters with her.
Results of the test were all negative. The doctors told her it was probably bad air in the office.
WHAT?
What kind of diagnosis is that, Drew stormed. What's the cure -- leeches? We found it pretty funny that the doctors apparently faulted the air rather than her heavy smoking, or onset of her period, or hormonal disruptions or the fact she didn't have breakfast that morning.
I felt assured that I had made the right decision about not seeking medical help with horse hoof bruises or popcorn burns. But no, I'm told, internationals can go to a VIP clinic at Kosovo Hospital and get immediate, attentive care.
That seems wrong.
