Spectacular St. Stephens

As we drove around Vienna for the first time I pointed to a massive cathedral and said, oh that must be St. Stephen's.

The cabbie scoffed. It was only Karlskirke, a mere Baroque twit of a cathedral with a 72 meter dome.

Stephansdom, one of Vienna’s most famous sights, was for many years the highest building in Europe at 137 meters. It is the penultimate Viennese tourist spot and as been since it was built in 1147.
