Things worth learning before you die

Laboring through Bosnian vocabulary and trying to decipher a food label on a local product today inspired this conversation on useful things to know that few people really do know and so they always seem really smart to others. Not like quantum mechanics or brain surgery...

As I imagine it, these are skills that in my family where holiday gathering Trivial Pursuit games are usually between teams dubbed the Smart People and the Stupid People, would make a difference in your assignment.

1. world capitals
2. the metric system and conversions from Centigrade to Fahrenheit -- doesn't count if you are not American
3. Cyrillic alphabet
4. roman numerals, especially years
