Electioneering Algiers style

One of our drivers is busily pursuing his "day job" as the November local elections near. He is running for a city office, an ambition that has earned him the nicked name "President" from driving colleagues. Every night after people get out of prayers at the mosque he's out on the streets shaking hands and talking.

He invited Del along on one of these electioneering forays, but Del declined. He worried jokingly that he would be introduced as, "my friend here. Vote for me or he'll come to your house and kill you." And there'd he be, a big man, silent because of his lack of Arabic. hah.
