The security level at the newspaper where we are working fell a notch today. The big muscled guys lounging under the tree are gone and the car inspection was noticeably lax this morning. Then we found out why.
The No. 2 guy of al Qaeda's North Africa wing was reported killed Sunday in a gun battle with Algerian troops. Hareg Zoheir, also known as Sofiane Abu Fasila, was the guy who had promised bad things would happen to our editor for his anti-terrorist stances.
Authorities said the Sofiane was shot at a heck point near Tizi Ouzou, east of Algiers.
