Every three years I seem to get a traffic ticket and so I was overdue.
Still, I was surprised on the road into Sarajevo from Belgrade to see the police flagging me down. Well, they don't actually flag -- they hold up these silly little stop signs that look like lollipops.
Having Bokie with me in this case was probably not a good thing. Playing the clueless American who doesn't understand the language I might have gotten off for going 70 km in a 40 km zone. Instead I got hit with a ticket.
The bureaucracy and the expense are much reduced here. I gave the lollipop man $18 and that was it. No points on my license even.
