The Hungry People

Cars piled up with packages, the roofs swathed in blue plastic tarps, line the street in front of the port on these blistering hot summer days. Traffic hiccoughs past these impediments. Big business is being transacted.

Immigrants regularly drive into Algiers with goods purchased in Europe. Cell phones and other electronics mostly but also watches and really anything. They know they can sell them here for more than they paid. And with that difference they can live for the summer in Algiers.

They are known as the Hungry People.
