When good projects go awry

I love this story from Darcy, a long-time NGO worker, about a project to stop human trafficking in Bangladesh by enlisting the help of imams. The organizers got a big response and large attendance and were tempted to pat themselves on the back. Then they found out that the Muslim leaders had begun telling followers that here was further proof that women should be kept at home and out of the sight of others who might, after all, be traffickers intending them harm.  Imprisonment would definitely put a dent in trafficking.
